"Eat for Peak Performance" Training Table Program for NC State Student Athletes

University Dining at North Carolina State University was awarded the silver medal in the Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards by the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) in May 2011 for the training table program “Eat for Peak Performance” at Case Dining Hall. NACUFS awards food service organizations for excellence in dining concepts, special events, retail concepts and catering services.

The "Eat for Peak Performance" training table program was created through a partnership with University Dining and the Department of Athletics. Case Dining Hall manager and training table director Bob Sorochak alongside two registered dieticians, Lisa Eberhart and Michelle Rockwell, designed the elements of the program, including recipes and weekly menus.

The program aims to refuel student athletes with healthy menu options based on three categories: lean protein sources, complex carbohydrates and fruits and vegetables that are naturally high in antioxidants.
