Spring 2012 Nutrition Programs
Kick start the semester by taking part in spring 2012 nutrition programs from University Dining! All programs are free with the exception of the specialty cooking classes and open to members of the NC State community.
Student Programs
Fresh Start Basic Cooking Classes
University Dining invites you to participate in a Fresh Start Cooking Class. Current NC State students are welcome to take part in a basic cooking class and/or a specialty cooking class from January to April 2012. Students are advised to take the free basic cooking skills class before taking a specialty class. The Basic Cooking Class will cover food safety and sanitation, basic knife skills and various cooking techniques.
Classes will take place on the dates below from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the Honors Village Commons Kitchen.

All programs have been coordinated through University Dining and will be instructed by Kristen Baughman, graduate student in extension education and Sarah Beitzel, a recent graduate of the extension education master’s program.
Fresh Start Specialty Cooking Classes
Specialty cooking classes will focus on the following international flavors: Italian, Mediterranean, Mexican and Asian. To enroll in a specialty cooking class, students will pay a $5.00 fee that will cover food and cooking materials ($5 fee is required for each class). Participants can pay $5.00 AllCampus that will be automatically deducted or $5 cash on the night of the class.
University Dining advises that you take a basic cooking class before signing up for a specialty cooking class.
Classes will take place on the dates below from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in Honors Village Commons Kitchen.

Nutrition 101
University Dining invites you to learn more about nutrition. Nutrition 101 will be offered weekly on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Student Health Center in Room 1301. Students are required to take this course before scheduling a weight loss or healthy eating appointment with the dietitian. The course encompasses reading nutrition labels, portion sizes, allergy information and other topics related to nutrition.

C-Store Nutrition 101
University Dining invites you to take a tour of the C-Store and discover healthier options for snacks and meals. Tours are free and will be offered on Thursdays throughout the semester at 1:00 p.m. at Bragaw C-Store. NC State students and employees are welcome to attend.

Dig in to the Dining Halls
University Dining invites you to dig a little deeper into the dining halls on campus by taking a tour of a dining hall facility. Tours are free and open to faculty, staff and students. The tour is intended to show customers where to find the healthier options and to highlight some of the dining hall's newest features like the Worry-Free Fare station and new menu items like fresh ground peanut butter. Dining hall tours will take place once a month on a Monday in Fountain at 5:15 pm.

Faculty/Staff Programs
Employee Lunch & Learn Series
University Dining invites you to kick start the new year by attending Lunch & Learn sessions throughout the month of January! Classes are open to any North Carolina State University employees (full-time, part-time or temporary). Classes will be offered once a week in January from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. in Fountain Dining Hall on Thursdays. The program is free with the cost of lunch at Fountain ($7.35 cash/debit/credit or $6.85 AllCampus). Attendees are encouraged to sign up for all sessions.
