Case Dining Hall to Accept Wood Hall Meal-Plan Holders for Breakfast

March 16, 2010 (Raleigh, NC)—Wood Hall meal-plan holders will have access to Case Dining Hall for breakfast effective March 22, 2010. It is a first step toward shifting access for students who could best benefit most.

Beginning in fall 2010, University Dining will grant breakfast , lunch, and Sunday dinner access to both Wood and Avent Ferry Complex residents with a meal plan.

Due to space constraints, the move will require that new students in some central campus residence halls no longer have access. Upperclassmen meal-plan holders returning to those residence halls will not be affected by the policy change.

Monday through Saturday dinner will continue to be an athletic department-funded, athletes-only training table meal, in compliance with NCAA rules.

Prior to the mid 1990s, Case Dining Hall was operated by an outside company solely for the use of athletes. When University Dining assumed responsibility for the facility, it opened it to central campus meal-plan holders for breakfast, lunch and Sunday dinner.

“We recognize the strong demand for robust food service in Central Campus,” said Randy Lait, director of dining. “Shifting Case access to students who need it most, like those in Wood and Avent Ferry, will help alleviate some problems until Talley Student Center is renovated.”
